B. Libre Kafele
B. Libre Kafele, whose full name is Baruti Libre Kafele, is a political scientist, political economist and author of two books entitled Capital in the City and Who Pays for Development where he explains the financial infrastructure and the history of cities with the intention of creating solutions that ensure economic prosperity, socio-economic sustainability and improvement for all citizens regardless of their socio-economic status.
Kafele graduated from Rutgers University's School of Graduate Studies with a Master of Arts in Political Science with a specialization in United Nations and Global Policy Studies in 2025. He was also inducted into the Rutgers University chapter of the Pi Sigma Alpha National Honors Society for Political Science.
B. Libre Kafele is a Jersey City, New Jersey native and a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Kean University where he majored in Political Science with an emphasis in International and Comparative Politics, and minored in Sociology and African American Studies. At Kean University he was a Dean’s List student and was inducted into the Eta Sigma chapter of the Pi Sigma Alpha Honors Society.
Kafele is a multidisciplinary scholar, dynamic lecturer and avid reader whose intellectual work spans political economy, international political economy, comparative politics, international politics, urban studies, sociology, American history, African and African American history, and macroeconomics.
His passion is to empower the next generation to achieve their goals and contribute their gifts toward the betterment of society and the world. Kafele regularly gives lectures and presentations on political theory, comparative politics, state-building in Africa, U.S. economic policies, the history of the African diaspora, and Africa’s contribution to ancient civilizations.
He has also been inducted into several prestigious academic honor societies including Alpha Kappa Delta (International Sociology Honor Society), Lambda Alpha Sigma Kean University Honor Society, and the highly competitive multidisciplinary honor society Phi Kappa Phi.
Libre Kafele is also a graduate of The Fund for American Studies – Engalitcheff Institute of Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University (Summer 2012).
He studied abroad at the American University in Cairo, Egypt during the Spring semester of 2010, just a year before the country’s 2011 uprising.
Kafele has lectured at universities, conferences and civic organizations including Kean University, William Paterson University, the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (A.S.C.A.C.) Conference in Washington D.C., regional conferences in New York City, and the Southern Political Science Association conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2025.
He continues to lecture nationally and internationally for civic organizations, conferences, schools and community institutions. Libre Kafele advocates for education, economic freedom, urban development and community empowerment, and his purpose is to add intellectual value that encourages productivity, positivity and growth.
